¶ What is a Persona?
A persona a representation of your player character in Chat Mode. This feature allows you to define their appearance, background, personality traits, and other relevant details. The information provided in the Persona field is read by the AI at the start of the conversation and dynamically incorporated into its responses. Personas help make your roleplay feel more real by keeping your character consistent.
¶ How to Locate Your Personas

From the Chat page, select the gear icon in the top right to open the chat sidebar.

At the top of the chat sidebar, select User Persona. This opens the Persona menu.

You will see a persona with your screenname. This is created by default. Select the box to use the persona, select the pencil icon to edit the persona, or select New Persona to create a new persona.

Enter your persona details and select Save Changes (or Create Persona if you selected New Persona).
¶ Persona Writing Tips
- The good news about writing a persona? There's no wrong way to approach it. Feel free to write in any format or style... unless you use W++. It's a waste of tokens.
- Be token efficient. AI models have limited "context windows," which is the maximum number of tokens they can process at a time. Try to keep your persona short and free of repetition to help prevent the model forgetting or hallucinating your persona's details.
- Keep in mind everything you write, the character will "know" and use. Does your persona have a secret? If so, it's recommended to keep that information out.
